Daniel Forrest Sayre, of Nashua, NH passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 28th. Dan was born on July 12, 1942 in East Liverpool, Ohio, son of the late J. Woodrow & Nellie (Shircliff) Sayre. He is survived by his wife Pamela (Patenaude) Sayre and their children: Lisa (Sayre) Carlson & husband Keith of Nashua, NH, Stefanie (Meade) Cutter & husband Patrick of San Antonio TX, Stacey Meade & her significant other Chris Theriault of Shrewsbury, MA, Scott Meade & wife Sarina (Vose) of Keene, NH. He also leaves behind grandchildren: Jasmine Lampropulos & her husband Michael Moreno and Dustin Lampropulos of Nashua, NH; Michelle, Samantha and Xavier Cutter; Skylar, Maddie and Amelia Meade; and great-grandson Matthew Moreno; stepmother Selma Sayre of Flagler Beach, FL, sister Martha (Sayre) Garman and her husband Charles, who reside in Nigeria, Africa; several nieces as well as great nieces/nephews.
Dan graduated Ithaca High School (NY) in 1960. During that period, Dan was an avid music fan and played bass guitar in a local garage band for many fraternity events. After graduation he entered the U.S. Air Force and served in Montague, NY working in radar surveillance before his honorable discharge in 1964. Dan attended Syracuse University and eventually earned his Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Oklahoma.
Dan was a pioneer in the computer industry building one of the first prototypes from the ground up. Through career expansion he became top level tech support for hardware development, design and quality performance. He worked for various companies including Zenith Data Systems, Bull, NEC, and NEC Packard Bell. His love of computer work continued throughout his life. In 1999 Dan was ordained as a Reverend through the Universal Brotherhood Movement. He presided over several non-denominational weddings and funerals/memorials. In 1999 he became a Reiki master volunteering in Reiki clinics at Cheshire Hospital. Upon relocating to Nashua he continued facilitating Reiki shares in Nashua, NH.
Upon retirement from the computer industry, Dan became interested in hypnosis and became a Certified Consulting Hypnotist through the National Guild in 2004. His private practice was based in Nashua for over ten years. Starting in 2006 he served as President of the Southern NH Gateway Chapter Hypnosis Group for multiple years. Dan facilitated training sessions for private hypnotists, as well as informational sessions for the general public and businesses. He also co-facilitated metaphysical mix group meetings at Borders bookstore until its closing. Although he helped many through hypnosis to accomplish lifestyle changes, his greatest talent was helping people realize their worth and ability to achieve their full potential by letting go of beliefs that no longer serve them. He offered unconditional love to anyone who crossed his path and guided many by his example. He engaged many individuals in a chat over a cup of tea while listening to calming soothing tones of various musical artists. He had a deep appreciation of music from all venues and readily shared this joy with others.
From childhood to eternity, Dan loved and surrounded himself with all styles of nature & the great outdoors. His interests included canoeing, hiking, biking, gardening, reading, travel, and exploring ancient cultures. He had a deep appreciation for the arts and enjoyed all the community theaters in Southern NH as well as some on his travels. He was an active volunteer for the Majestic Theatre participating in set up and break down of the sets for dinner theater performances and other fund raising efforts. He felt the efforts of this group touched many lives and provided a wonderful avenue for education in the arts to develop talent as well as an excellent recreation for the community. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, please make donations to THE MAJESTIC THEATRE c/o Robert Dionne, 922 Elm Street, Suite 315, Manchester, NH 03101.
